MODIFIED COMPREHENSIVE PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
CHATHAM, IL (4/26/2016)– The Village of Chatham (Village) is reviewing and evaluating the results of the Modified Comprehensive Performance Evaluation (MCPE) for the South Sangamon Water Treatment Facility submitted April 21, 2016. “The Village is pleased that the report shows no water quality violations have occurred,” according to the Village President Tom Gray. “We look forward to receiving the IEPA’s recommendations and the South Sangamon Water Commission’s response on how to address any operational issues.” Gray added.
“The Village’s attorneys and engineers are performing a concurrent review of this document from legal and technical perspectives,” according Village Administrator Patrick McCarthy. “Our newly appointed representative to the South Sangamon Water Commission (SSWC), Ruth Bottrell, an experienced water treatment professional, has started her duties representing the interests of the Village to SSWC and is a part of the review of the MCPE as well,” McCarthy added.
“The efforts of all of the participants involved in preparing the evaluation are greatly appreciated, and we look forward to receiving comment from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and coordinating with the SSWC to ensure any and all issues are resolved,” Gray stated.
While the MCPE is an important positive step forward in addressing concerns regarding water quality in the Village of Chatham, it is only one step of many. The report includes recommendations to the SSWC, some of which have already been implemented. “The Village will continue to work with SSWC and IEPA to meet the stated goals of the MCPE,” Gray stated.
